Following Hurricane Ian’s fury, the U.S. Coast Guard released a video of one of the numerous rescues in southwest Florida on Saturday.
A member of the MH-65 Dolphin aircrew from Air Station Miami could be seen in a video released on the USCG Atlantic Area Command Facebook page descending from a helicopter to a house on Sanibel Island in preparation for a rescue.
The airman in the video’s epilogue welcomes a man, a woman, and a dog who had become stranded on the island.
According to the page, the same crew accomplished numerous other rescues in the immediate area over the same time.
Crews from the air stations Clearwater, Miami, and St. Petersburg assisted the rescue of additional persons and animals in numerous videos posted on the USCG Southeast social media pages.

The Coast Guard reported that as of Saturday afternoon, teams had helped or saved 442 hurricane Ian victims in Florida and South Carolina, including 89 animals.
Additionally, since Wednesday, more than 118 USCG flights have taken off in support of the search and rescue operations following Hurricane Ian.
