The Dutch Shepherd is a lively, athletic, alert and intelligent breed of dog that has retained its herding instinct for which it was originally developed. This breed was used by shepherds in the Netherlands for all-around farm work and is an incredibly loyal and trainable jack-of-all-trades. The Dutch shepherd has a wedge-shaped head, flat skull, erect triangular ears, and soulful dark almond-shaped eyes.
This breed is highly intelligent and can be trained to do many tasks such as guard duty, cart pulling, police work, security work and more. They are known to be very protective of their family and will make excellent watchdogs. They are also very active dogs that need plenty of exercise to stay healthy both mentally and physically.
