Thorin is a gentle and mild-mannered German Shepherd who lives with his mom on a little farm. Mom is passionate about caring for tiny animals and dedicates her time toward raising quails, emus, turkeys, ducks, and chickens in a loving environment. Over the years, Thorin has grown protective toward all his feathery friends.

Thorin always looks forward to the time when Mom collects the hatched chicks from the incubator. He literally stalks her around the house as he wants to have a glimpse of the wee chirpy birdies huddled together in the yellow bucket. Mom often sees him hovering over the newborn chicks because he is so excited to greet them!

Whenever Mom has to be away for her chores, she knows that Thorin will religiously watch over the newly hatched birdies. Sometimes, the chicks get intimidated by Thorin’s giant size, but the sweet dog always wins their heart by kissing them and making them feel safe!

Mom recently shared this video of Thorin’s habitual behavior after a new batch of chicks gets hatched in the incubator. He anxiously follows Mom around and goes wild with excitement when Mom finally lets him welcome the chicks in his own unique way. These chicks are lucky to have such a sweet guardian angel looking out for them!
