Online hearts have been warmed by a video of a dog’s owner detailing how she rescued her pet from the Chinese meat trade.
The pups, who had traveled for 40 hours, are shown being awaited in Vancouver in a video posted on TikTok last Thursday under the account tianacalx.
Tiana detailed how China Rescue Dogs had rescued her poodle Lucy, along with 32 other dogs, from a butcher in Wuhan in the TikTok post. There were 80 dogs in total that had traveled from China.

The trade-in dog meat is especially pervasive in various Asian nations, including China, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Laos, Viet Nam, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Nagaland in northern India, according to the Humane Society International.
In some African nations and regions of Switzerland, dog meat is also reported to be consumed, albeit on a far lower scale.
According to data, 30 million dogs are reportedly murdered each year in Asia for human consumption. Ten to twenty million of those canines are killed in China, two million in South Korea, one million in Indonesia, and roughly five million in Viet Nam; 80,000 or so of this latter group are smuggled from Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia.
Accurate statistics are impossible to collect because the dog meat trade is completely unregulated and frequently illegal, according to the Humane Society International website.

At the legendary Yulin Lychee and Dog Meat Festival, which takes place every year in the city of Yulin in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region over the course of ten days, police and animal activists in China prevented the slaughter of roughly 400 dogs.
Over 14.6 million people have seen and loved the TikTok video, and over 3 million of them have expressed gratitude to Tiana for saving the poodle.
