Recently in Colombia, a man named Adolfo was rushed to San Juan de Dios Hospital after falling seriously ill with pneumonia. Though he may not have many belongings, what Adolfo does have is something far more valuable—a loyal companion who never left his side.
A Dog’s Unwavering Devotion
Adolfo’s faithful dog, named Moisés, refused to leave the hospital entrance while his best friend received treatment inside. Despite the cold and long nights, Moisés stayed put, keeping watch and waiting for his friend to return.
Animal lover Sammy Quiceno witnessed the touching scene and was moved by the dog’s commitment. “He was waiting for his owner in the emergency room for more than two days without moving from there on cold nights,” Quiceno wrote on an Instagram post. “The dog was with a bag containing the man’s clothes and he wouldn’t let go. It’s amazing what these animals do for us.”
A Hopeful Heart Still Waiting
Wanting to ease the dog’s suffering, Quiceno took Moisés home to care for him while Adolfo remained in the hospital. But even in a warm home, Moisés clung tightly to Adolfo’s belongings, his heart clearly still with his human.
Thankfully, Moisés didn’t have to wait long for a reunion.
A Rule Broken for the Sake of Love
When hospital staff heard about Moisés’ devotion, they chose to bend the rules. Although pets typically aren’t allowed inside, they opened their doors just this once to let Moisés visit Adolfo.
The reunion was emotional. “Today, Adolfo could see his furry friend from whom he had not been separated for five years,” Quiceno wrote. “This fills me with happiness! The love between them is unique.”
Still Healing, But No Longer Alone
Though Adolfo is still recovering, the hospital assured the public that both he and Moisés are receiving the best care possible. Until Adolfo is strong enough to go home, Moisés will continue to stay with Quiceno, surrounded by love, and never far from the man who means everything to him.
