Even though many people are eager for the snow to melt and the spring flowers to bloom, two law enforcement officers made the decision to enjoy the frigid weather.
In order to give police dog Gadget a vacation from his canine training, an officer from the Newmarket Police Department in New Hampshire chose to hike up a snowy hill with him. The entertaining video below was posted by News Center Maine.
The video was also uploaded to the Newmarket Police Department Facebook page and people have fallen in love with Gadget.
Lisa Malin Nicholson comments, “I feel like this probably counts for training hours. Who knows when Gadget may have to sled to a victim to bring comfort!” Deborah Reed adds, “Gadget …were you having fun? Love you sweetie….Go Go Go Gadget!” Jason Morse replies, “Everyone has to love Gadget.. Thank you, Newmarket PD.”
Police dogs help locate missing people, apprehend criminals who are fleeing crime scenes or those who are attacking law enforcement officers, and assist in finding crime scene evidence. But they also provide comfort to victims of crime or in natural disaster situations such as house fires and tornados. With an average career span of around 10 years for a police dog, it’s awesome to see officers taking the time to make sure these canine heroes have some fun in their down time, too.
We hope Gadget has a long and successful career taking a bite out of crime!
