When a special announcement about rescued Beagles hit the Facebook page of the Michigan Humane Society, they never could have anticipated the outpouring of responses to adopt the dogs.

The 36 Beagles rescued from pesticide testing at Charles River Laboratory in Mattawan, Michigan, will never have to worry about being harmed again.

Anna Chrisman, a Michigan Humane Society (MHS) spokesperson, told 16 WNDU News, “The dogs in question are going to need some time, and it’s a little bit of everything from not just decompressing. Also, our behaviorist needs time to evaluate them appropriately.”

The MHS received over 800 applications from people wishing to adopt the dogs. On their Facebook page, it is noted that “Training could be a several months process and activities enjoyed by other dogs may not be options for them.”

The group hopes to get the Beagles into their forever homes sooner than later. For now, the adoption process is closed, but the group is grateful for the extreme interest in the Beagles.

This is one story with a happy ending worth celebrating!
