Ah, the pleasures of pet ownership. We can always rely on our animal pals to remain at our sides, for better or worse, whether we’re eating with them or trying to get some personal space. Ask Ellie, a PhD candidate and fierce dog mother who goes by the TikTok handle @myphdexperience.
She recently posted a humorous yet embarrassing video, and it’s clear why it’s become so popular. While she was speaking to thousands of viewers on Zoom, her dog gave her an unexpected surprise.
@myphdexperience I cant even watch it anymore because i cringe so much 😂🥲 #dogbarf #funnydog #funnydogs #zoommeetingfails #embarrassing ♬ original sound – Ellie Hurer
We don’t recall the last time we laughed so hard, LOL! We’re laughing because Ellie’s spastic response to her dog’s gagging is so relatable, but that’s all it is. The worst moment to become sick is always when your dog does!
@jamesh0neyman wrote, “I’m HOWLING. Yes, we thought it sounded familiar when someone said, “That sounds like that scene from Bridesmaids where Melissa starts gagging in the wedding dress shop.” Even though it’s amusing, any dog owner can see how hard Ellie is working during those little intervals.
It’s really true what commenter @sgam2001 stated about how “you can feel the focus dissipate with every grunt.” Knowing your pet is likely to become ill makes it difficult to focus on anything else, but it becomes even more difficult when you are aware that 30.000 people can hear you. We would have been ashamed!
@gigilog observed, “I love the lean-in like it’s going to muffle the sound. LOL! It’s a tried-and-true distraction that both pet owners and non-owners use, but there’s no escaping the fact that Ellie is concealing something. It was quite evident after a minute, just like @davidjboyter remarked, “Initial one almost sounded like a fart. Then the conjuring occurred.” Yet, we can’t help but wonder how Ellie’s audience felt about the unexpected break.
