When it comes to looking after your pup, one of the most important things you need to do is make sure they’re protected from extreme weather conditions. This includes both hot and cold weather, as well as wind, rain and snow. Here are some tips on how to protect your pup from all types of extreme weather:
- Hot Weather – When temperatures soar, it’s important to keep your pup cool and hydrated. Make sure you have plenty of fresh water available at all times, provide plenty of shade if they’re outdoors, and limit their activity during very hot days. Try to take them for walks or playtime in the early morning or late evening when it’s cooler outside.
- Cold Weather – Keep an eye out for signs of hypothermia such as shivering and lethargy in cold weather. During these times make sure you provide a warm bed for them indoors, limit their time outside, offer lots of extra blankets for comfort, and don’t let them get wet (especially if there is snow on the ground). Investing in a dog coat can also be beneficial!
- Windy Weather – On windy days make sure that you keep your pup indoors if possible as gusts can be dangerous for small dogs who can easily fall over in strong winds. If they must venture outdoors in blustery conditions make sure they are wearing a snug fitting harness or leash so that they won’t be blown off course!
- Rainy Weather – Wet weather not only makes it difficult for pups to keep dry but also can make walking on slippery pavements treacherous too—so always opt to take outdoor strolls when the sun is shining instead! If you do decide to brave the rain then try using boots or a special protective coat which helps protect your pooch’s fur from getting soaked through!
- Snowy Weather – As much fun as playing in the snow can be for pooches it does come with its own set of risks such as frostbite and hypothermia so always supervise them closely during these winter days. It’s also best to avoid letting them eat any large amounts of snow due to its freezing cold temperature which could give them an upset tummy!
