Losing a dog is a nightmare no owner ever wants to experience, and for Jessica Gary, that fear became all too real when her senior Chihuahua, Fidel, went missing. Fidel, at 15 years old, not only required daily medication but had been Jessica’s cherished companion for many years. Determined to bring him home, Jessica was willing to do whatever it took.

The heartache began when Fidel was taken from a park, leaving Jessica desperate. She wasted no time, offering a $3,000 reward for his return and driving around Brooklyn tirelessly for two days. Missing posters were plastered everywhere, and she turned to social media, pleading for help. Fortunately, a tip came in that would lead her to Fidel.

Jessica was alerted that her beloved dog had been spotted with a couple in the Carroll Gardens neighborhood. Acting quickly, she and her friend raced to the location. As they approached, they saw the couple walking with Fidel. Jessica, not wanting to take any chances or cause a confrontation, made a swift decision. Her friend leapt out of the car, grabbed Fidel, and they both sped off, leaving the couple stunned and furious. The couple, angered by the sudden retrieval, struck Jessica’s car window with a skateboard, but she and her friend drove away safely with Fidel.

While Jessica believes the couple may have acquired Fidel from someone else, the actual thief remains unidentified. Nevertheless, she is just relieved that her beloved dog is now back where he belongs.

Despite the legal gray area surrounding her actions, Jessica stands by her choice and has no regrets. Fidel, unharmed and safe, is happily reunited with his mom, and that’s all that matters to her.
