At Connor and Millie’s Dog Rescue (CMDR), a diminutive 2-pound dog named Lori lay trembling in a large depression among a row of kennels. Nobody knew what the young dog had gone through, but the solution was nearby at a different rescue group.

Lori was missing her brother, Jerry.

Lori was listed as needing rescue on the transfer list at a nearby shelter. The 2-year-old terrier mix received immediate assistance from CMDR, who later placed her in a foster home while she awaited adoption.

According to Linda Gilliam, president of CMDR, “after we took up Lori, my admin was notified she had a littermate/housemate (we never separate), but that another rescue had adopted him.” “Normally, the shelter will never reveal which rescues take which dogs, so we were unsure about Jerry’s ownership right away.”

A miracle took place more than a week later. In order to reunite the siblings, Gilliam learned Jerry’s whereabouts and got in touch with Diana Englund, the owner of A Home 4 Spot (AH4S), a rescue organization.

No one will soon forget the moment Lori and Jerry finally reconnected.

Jerry was in heaven, and Lori was a little reserved, as is typical of her, according to Gilliam. “Jerry depends more on her.”

Gilliam wanted to be sure the two dogs wouldn’t be split up once more when they were reunited.

As her brother was depressed without her, Gilliam stated, “We asked the adopter if they would consider adopting her brother and it would be at no additional cost.” She concurred. They have adapted well and are doing great.

Since getting back together, Lori and Jerry have both changed significantly. And while though this particular happy ending was greatly welcomed, it is also exceedingly uncommon.

The likelihood of this happening is absolutely absurd, according to Gilliam. “I know a lot of the fosters [and rescues], and we work together for the dogs. Nothing else would do for us.

They are overjoyed that Lori and Jerry will never have to be apart again as a result of that cooperation.
