Meet Camryn and Emma, a sibling pair that remained together after their owners abandoned them in a park.

Logan’s Legacy rescue’s founder, Suzette Hall, initially learned about Emma and Camryn from a kind stranger who had been giving the puppies food many times a day for almost two weeks.

Hall said, “She kept trying to get them, but they were too skittish.”

While helping themselves to the food, the two siblings would stay close to one another and the location where they had last seen their family. So the woman made a helpline call to Hall.

“We were having the worst heatwave and rainstorms when she called,” Hall said. “I really didn’t think they’d still be there, but they were! Just laying there next to each other.”

The way the two puppies crowded together in one place, even though they had a vast national park to explore, showed that they were inseparable. Even after Hall laid her trap, they both charged straight at it.

According to Hall, “They were both trying to go into it together, which never works. The trap won’t shut if two of them are in it.”

Hall then decided to experiment. She took out her Snappy Snare, a device for gently catching a dog by the neck, and began conversing with one of the animals to win his trust. She planned to use the Snappy Snare to catch one of the pups, then place the other in her trap.

“It took hours,” Hall said. “But I wasn’t giving up.”

You can listen to Hall talk to the two pups here:

After some time, Hall used the snare to capture the male pup, which she eventually called Camryn. Before beginning the second stage of her rescue attempt, she placed him in her van and shut the door.

“I reset the trap, but Emma wanted nothing to do with it,” Hall said. “She just wanted her brother so bad.”

Emma chose to circle the van rather than into the trap. Hall could see that Emma cared more about her brother than the food in the trap. Hall decided to take advantage of the sibling relationship.

Hall stated, “I got in the van and held her brother. I was rubbing Camryn and showing Emma that everything was OK.

After some initial hesitation, Emma entered the van to accompany her brother. The reunion of the two pups filled them with joy.

“They were so excited to be back together,” according to Hall. “Emma just kept kissing her brother.”

When Hall took the puppies to the veterinarian, they were momentarily separated while getting a routine checkup. After being neutered and spayed, the puppies received their shots before reuniting.

Their reunion following the veterinarian visit was as poignant as their reunion in Hall’s van on the day of their rescue.

“When [the vet] first brought them out from the back, they were dying to see each other,” according to Hall. “They just kept touching noses as if to say, ‘OK, we’re together. Everything’s OK.’”

The two puppies were placed in a foster home together not long after their medical appointments. Although Emma and Camryn are doing well in their foster homes, Hall claims that their journey is far from over.

“I want to find them a forever home together,” Hall said. “I’m not going to separate these two.”
