Summer is here and with it comes the heat. With temperatures rising, it’s important to keep your pup cool and comfortable. Don’t let the sun get the best of you – there are several ways to keep your dog cool in summer.

The most important thing to remember when trying to keep your pup cool is hydration. Make sure that your dog has access to plenty of fresh, clean water at all times. If you’re out for a walk or hike, bring along a collapsible bowl so that they can have regular sips throughout the day.

Another way to help keep your pup cool is by providing shade. Whether that’s inside a house or outside under a tree, make sure they have somewhere to escape from direct sunlight during hot days. If you don’t have access to any shade, consider investing in an umbrella or tent for outdoor activities.

When out walking or hiking, give your dog small amounts of water every 15-20 minutes so their stomach has time to absorb it properly. It isn’t good for them to drink too much at once as this can cause vomiting or diarrhea. You can also try giving them frozen treats like ice cubes or frozen peanut butter filled Kongs which will help keep them hydrated and entertained at the same time!

If you don’t have access to air conditioning, there are other ways you can help keep your pup cool in extreme heat without air conditioning such as keeping water available at all times and providing cooling mats filled with cold tap water or ice packs that have been frozen overnight. You can also pour cool water over their fur which will help lower their body temperature quickly and effectively.

Finally, never leave your dog in a car on hot days as this can be extremely dangerous for them due to the rapid rise in temperature inside the vehicle. If you spot any signs of heat stroke such as excessive panting, drooling or lethargy then move them into a cooler environment immediately and contact your vet if necessary.

By following these simple tips, you’ll be able to ensure that both you and your pup stay safe and cool during those hot summer days!
