A lost puppy was saved from certain death by a Florida police officer.
Officer Bob Stebbins of the Lighthouse Point Police Department acted quickly earlier this month when he noticed a puppy dying off the Florida shore.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the police department stated that at about 10 p.m., a “frantic caller” reported that her dog had leaped into the Intracoastal Waterway.
July 3rd. Officer Stebbins arrived at the site after responding to the report.

It had taken the small dog around 25 minutes to tread water.
The dog was so worn out that the officer could only make out its nose in the darkness as it barely floated above the water.
The dog’s leash was tangled in some dock pilings nearby, and Stebbins realized that something had to be done right now.
The cop hurriedly removed his gear and dove into the pitch-black water.
The little puppy was successfully untangled and brought back to the shore.
The owner of the dog was “overjoyed to be reunited with her family member,” according to the agency.
“Thank you, Officer Stebbins,” the statement concludes.
“Great Work!”
