Months ago, after the dog fell into Biscayne Bay while playing, firefighters responded to the rescue of a Miami Beach woman and her canine companion.

On February 15, Miami Beach Fire Rescue shared a video of the rescue on their Facebook page. In the video, rescuers can be seen descending a ladder to free the trapped pit bull who was leaning up against a retaining wall.

The dog managed to slip away from the woman as they were playing in a park, falling over the wall and into the lake below.

When they arrived, Engine 2 and Fire Rescue Truck 22 started working on the incident. You can see in the video that a firefighter descends a ladder into thigh-deep water. As soon as he arrives, he is able to drag the wet dog in by her harness. The cute dog, who is wet and uneasy, lets the firefighter carry her up the ladder to the solid ground while being carried on his shoulder.

The arriving firefighters can be seen comforting the wet dog once everyone has returned to dry land. Initially apprehensive, the appreciative pup eventually begins to display her gratitude by wagging her tail and smelling everyone in her vicinity before dousing the assembled throng in a shower of joyful bay water.

The Miami Beach Fire Rescue’s Facebook post states, “RESCUED & REUNITED.”; We’re overjoyed to have been of assistance.
